MY MIND project SUBMISSION GUIDELINES

EDITORIAL POLICY
Poem Stellium publishes original poetry, short stories and work created by those that have had a personal experience with mental illness. Whilst writers not need to have had a relation to mental illness – we are open to submissions to those that are connected to friends and family relatives that have experienced such. We do prefer the creator to have a mental illness type and to be open to write about it.
COVER LETTER
Authors should include a cover letter describing their relationship with mental illness: either self, friend or family relative who struggles with mental illness. if your work is accepted for publication you will be asked to submit a short biography where we would like you to supply this information.
POETRY REQUIREMENTS
We accept 3-5 poems (followed by the poet’s biography). If you are submitting more than one poem they should all be grouped together into one word file, not sent as individual files. Please do not send PDF files. Pages should be numbered, and the writer’s name and email address should appear at the top of the first page of each piece submitted.
SHORT STORY REQUIREMENTS
500-1000 word count for short stories submitted. We don’t accept submissions of anything less than 500 words. You may submit 1-3 pieces at a time and should all be grouped together into one word file, not sent as individual files. Please do not send PDF files. Pages should be numbered, and the writer’s name and email address should appear at the top of the first page of each piece submitted.
RIGHTS
Writers and poets retain the copyright to their material. By submitting work, they agree to assign to The PS one-time rights for publication. We do not accept previously published work. Simultaneous submissions are allowed. However, if a submission is accepted by another publisher as well as by the PS, the author should notify the PS of their preferred publisher.
PRIVACY
By agreeing to allow their work to be published, writers whose work is accepted agree to allow The PS to publish a brief biography of them on the The PS web site online publication, and to permit The PS to publish their names and titles of their works on The PS web site. The PS will take measures to protect writers’ names from access by Internet “web crawlers” to ensure, to the best of its ability, the writer’s privacy. Access to information published on The Awakenings Project site cannot, however, be guaranteed to be inaccessible to all web crawlers.
FORMAT
Submissions are accepted on an ongoing basis. Email submissions should be in a .doc or .docx format attached to an email sent to contact@poemstellium.com and include the word “my mind submission” in the subject line.
